If you are a Nevada State undergraduate and interested in working with me on a research project, click here to see potential project topics.
My name is Sungju Moon. Some call me “SJ”. I am an assistant professor of mathematics at Nevada State University.
I earned my PhD from Seoul National University in 2021 under the supervision of J.-J. Baik. For my PhD project, I studied applied nonlinear dynamics and chaos motivated by problems in atmospheric modeling.
Upon graduating, I stayed at Seoul National University (Research Institute for Basic Sciences) as a National Research Foundation (NRF Korea) Postdoctoral Training Fellow. Then I held a postdoc position at McMaster University in Canada where I was part of the Mathematics for Public Health (MfPH) network at the Fields Institute, supervised by Michael C. Wolfson.
My current research interests include applications of nonlinear dynamics and chaos in the context of atmospheric and epidemiological research.
